The Orchard Golf and Country Club and Great Depot, Inc., the official distributor of U.S. Kids Golf in the country, have teamed up together to organize the first ever Philippine qualifying round for the U.S. Kids World Championship
The U.S. Kids Golf Philippine qualifiers will be held at the Orchard Golf and Country Club on June 1 to 3, 2009. Boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, have the opportunity to compete against kids their own age and gender. The top five finishers of each age and gender group will receive a medal for their accomplishments. The first place winner in each age and gender group who meet the scoring requirement will be invited to compete in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship that will take place in Pinehurst, North Carolina in the United States on August 6 to 8, 2009.
“We are very excited about this,” says Ui Mendoza, Philippine brand manager of USKG. “It is the first time that the Philippines will be holding such a prestigious event for our junior golfers from all around the country.”
As observed by many avid amateur and professional golfers, there is a scarcity of young fresh talent in golf. The golfing population is getting older and there is a need for young golfers to make their mark and grow the game. This is one of the main reasons why this tournament is being organized.
“We wanted to provide an opportunity for kids, ages 4 to 12, to showcase their skills and progress in age appropriate competition,” Ms. Mendoza.
“This ties up with the overall mission of U.S. Kids Golf: to help kids have fun learning the game of golf at an early age and to encourage family interaction that builds lasting memories.”
